MIU alumnus Pavan Pidugu at his MIU graduation

Pavan Pidugu, a 2003 MIU MBA graduate, has built a strong reputation in the field of management and leadership in retail technology. As a senior manager at Walmart, he received the 2014 Innovator of the Year award for his efforts in trying to change the retail systems landscape for the world’s largest retailer.

Pavan, currently a partner in retail practice at the NCR Corporation in North Carolina, consults with senior executives at large retail stores in order to build future-proof strategies. “Excellence in any sphere of life can be achieved through determination, hard work, perseverance, and dedication,” he said.

Pavan grew up in Tirupati, a small town in India, and was exposed to Vedic culture at an early age. Pavan has many professional accomplishments, but he believes that “the meaning, purpose, and goal of human life is to achieve self-realization.” Even though he was a smart kid, he said he never tried his best and never really focused on his goals until he learned the Transcendental Meditation® technique in 2001, after completing his bachelor’s degree in business management at Sri Krishnadevaraya University in India.

Pavan also has an MS in operations management from the University of Arkansas. He has been asked by the top leaders of Target and Walmart to lead their most critical programs in order to promote strategic business growth. He served in multiple leadership roles in technology services at Target from 2004-2010. He was responsible for the development of Target’s offshore business center and for driving Target’s pharmacy systems to enable real-time inventory. Pavan also turned around Walmart’s project delivery methodologies and led Walmart’s global store systems strategy from 2012 to 2014. His team was awarded the Walmart Team of the Year Award.

Pavan has noticed that there are a lot of followers and not many leaders. Leaders require more knowledge of the Self to be successful, and Pavan feels that being a regular practitioner of the TM® and TM-Sidhi® programs sets him apart from an ordinary executive and gives him the advantage he needs to be a successful leader.
