The purpose of a Total Knowledge-based education is to enable one to “achieve anything, do anything, become anything in life.”

On June 1, Raja Peter delivered an introductory lecture for his course on Total Knowledge to a very packed Dalby Hall. Raja Peters, who holds a Masters in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University and a Doctorate in Supreme Political Science from Maharishi University of World Peace, worked intensively with Maharishi for 36 years.

Using a very elaborate chart representing the model of Consciousness-based education as his only prop, Raja Peter succeeded in highlighting the advantages of a such a system.

RajaPeterThe purpose of a Total Knowledge-based education, he noted, is to enable one to “achieve anything, do anything, become anything in life.” That sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? Of course it does! But let us back up slightly here just to ensure we are all on the same page. What is Total Knowledge-based education to begin with? Raja Peter defined such an education as one in which the student gains familiarity with the Unified Field of all knowledge or of all disciplines, while specializing in one particular discipline. That is to say, one may study advanced mathematical formulae while at the same time gaining understanding of, well, everything else!

DalbyThis may seem like a huge task but that is not the case. You see, all disciplines are rooted in the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature, a field that we have easy access to through Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. So, in a Total Knowledge- or Consciousness-based education system, fundamental principles of life are not only intellectually understood but also experientially explored through taking the awareness inwards to experience the Unified Field of our own existence – our Being.

Fully equipped with this understanding and experience, we gain the support of Totality in all our thoughts and actions. Everything we think, say and do is boosted by the immense energy and organizing power of the Unified Field.

This Vedic system of gaining knowledge, Raja Peter noted, is real education, as one learns to appreciate life as a whole, to see the unity in diversity. Total Knowledge-based education gives you the part within the context of the whole. One, therefore, learns to function harmoniously within the spider web of life, ensuring that every strand works synergistically with every other to maintain the integrity of the whole.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how Maharishi International University is keeping it real when it comes to education!
