Do you want to develop your computing skills while growing into the best person you can be? MUM’s computer science programs will prepare you with the skills you need for a successful career while supporting your personal and creative growth with daily meditation, a healthy routine, and a caring community.
In our department programs, you will:
Today, computer networking systems connect millions of people and almost every educational, research, and business institution in the world. Computing skills are vital in almost every field, from education and research to commerce and entertainment.
Our programs prepare graduates for success by teaching them comprehensive computer science knowledge along with the ability to think clearly, precisely, and creatively.
Instead of balancing multiple classes, exams, and homework assignments, you’ll be focusing on one topic at a time in our innovative block system.
In the block system, you’ll be taking only one full time-course per month, giving you the time you need to fully absorb the knowledge and focus on what you’re learning.
Our class schedule incorporates daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique, which has been proven to reduce stress, enhance clarity of mind, and improve overall health.
Many of our students find that daily meditation gives them the clear mind they need to tackle their daily studies and deeply understand complex computer programming dilemmas.
Our faculty are experts in their area with practical experience in the field and are dedicated to helping you grow as both a student and a person.
MUM’s small class sizes and low student-faculty ratio mean that you’ll have the time you need to ask questions, participate in discussions, and get to know your peers.
Graduates of our department are prepared for a wide range of careers in computer science, including:
Nabini Khanal, a 2001 graduate of our MS in Computer Science, originally hails from a small village in Nepal and now works for Microsoft as a Group Program Manager, managing 30+ employees worldwide and a multimillion dollar departmental budget.
“If not for MUM, I would not be living the kind of life I have,” says Nabin. “I am blessed to be part of the MUM family. MUM is a part of my success story.”
Vikas Narula, a 1994 graduate of our BS in Computer Science, is the owner and founder of Keyhubs, a Minneapolis-based management software and consulting firm that uncovers a company’s “hidden organization” — the informal network of relationships between workers that shows how work actually gets done.
“To me, entrepreneurship is more than about making money,” says Vikas, “It’s really a spiritual journey, a journey of self-discovery and growth. MUM taught me that. MUM gave me a perspective on life that helped me see things beyond the material. It helped me understand what matters most.”
The MS in Computer Science program teaches students the skills they need for high-paying careers in the field and places them directly into paid practical internships at top US companies, including Microsoft, Nokia, and Oracle. Learn more about the program here>
In this program you will participate in the creation of an original Web-TV Series, working alongside fellow students and industry professionals. This unique opportunity is being made available to a select number of students who will work together to write, produce, edit, and distribute the series. Every student will work in different capacities throughout the course of the production.
