Program Policies Agreement — MBA for Accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning/SAP Professionals

Instructions

Please read this Agreement carefully. Enter your electronic signature and other information at the end, and then click “Submit.” This will email the information to the Admissions Office. If you have questions or need clarification on this Agreement, contact your admissions counselor.

A. Introduction

The purpose of this Agreement is to summarize some of the main aspects of your graduate degree and practicum program AND to make sure that you have a clear understanding of the program structure. Many of the points included here are summarized in other places, including the University Catalog and the Student Handbook. For more detailed information, read those references. You need to read, understand, and agree with the issues cited. As the next part of your admissions, you are asked to complete this form and submit it.

This Agreement describes policies for the Accounting for Professionals & Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/SAP) for Professionals Program (“Program”), also known as the Master of Business Administration with Accounting – Professionals track or Master of Business Administration with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/SAP) – Professionals track, of Maharishi International University (“University”). This Agreement is applicable only for students who enter the program with the next entering class.
Because policies can change for various entry dates, this Agreement supersedes and has precedence over any other agreements for the Program that the student may have previously signed and any information contained in the University’s website, written literature, or other promotional materials (because they may not always be revised or updated in a timeframe consistent with this document). If you have been accepted to the next entry and you wish to postpone to a later entrance date, you will need to reapply or at least have your application again reviewed for the next entrance. The Admissions Office will determine which is necessary. In unusual circumstances, specific entry dates may change or be canceled by the University. In the case of an entry cancellation or change, you will need to reapply or have your application re-reviewed in order to be accepted to the next entry date.

B. Entrance Requirements:

(1) Academic Prerequisite Courses
All entering students are expected to meet specific academic and work experience requirements. For example, you are expected to understand financial accounting at the intermediate level. We also expect you to have a basic understanding of management accounting and the use of spreadsheet software. Some students may need to review these materials before arriving on campus. Courses in the Program are designed with the assumption that you know these topics, and therefore remedial courses in these subjects are not part of the Program.
(2) English Language Requirement
Fluent communication in the English language is an essential factor for successful job performance and is, therefore, an important component of the Program. A sufficient score of IELTS Academic / TOEFL iBT / PTE / Duolingo English test is required for admissions.
(3) University Policies Governing Daily Routine and Student Behavior
The full development of every student is the primary goal of the University, so we have a schedule and structure of daily classes and campus life which support balance and progress in an easy manner.

  1. Transcendental Meditation. All students in the Program learn the Transcendental Meditation (TM) program® — a simple, natural, effortless technique for reducing stress and developing an individual’s full potential. This technique is the most effective, widely practiced, and extensively researched method of self-development in the world, and allows the mind and body to settle down and gain a state of deep relaxation. It has been validated by over 350 scientific studies. The Transcendental Meditation technique is not a religion or philosophy, nor does it involve moral training, belief, or worship. Students from all backgrounds have found it to be a valuable adjunct to their daily routine, and complementary to their cultural and religious beliefs. To help guarantee its effectiveness, the Transcendental Meditation technique is always taught in a structured, systematic way. This includes several short lectures and one session of personal instruction that includes a short traditional ceremony in which the teacher honors the tradition of this knowledge. The TM program is a part of the curriculum and an academic requirement at the University. The TM technique is practiced for 20 minutes twice each day. Students also practice the TM technique for additional shorter periods during the day as part of each academic class.

    Instruction in the TM Technique

Ethiopia, Nepal, Mongolia, Uzbekistan: If you live in Ethiopia, Nepal, Mongolia or Uzbekistan, you are required to learn the TM technique in your country before we can send you the I-20 form that allows you to apply for your U.S. student visa.
Any other country: If you live in any other country, you are encouraged to receive instruction in the TM technique in your home country, but you have the option of receiving TM instruction during your first week at our University if for some reasons you cannot learn TM in your country.
At our University: If you choose to take the course in the US upon arrival at the University: your TM course tuition will be US $210. This amount of US $210 will be charged to your student account and included in your Accounting Professionals (AP) Loan. Note: In many countries, the cost of learning the TM technique is significantly less than in the USA.

    Transcendental Meditation Teacher Recommendation

All applicants (except those living in India) who learn the TM technique before coming to the University are required to complete the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Recommendation. All applicants living in India are required to complete the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Recommendation for Residents of India.

Contact Information for learning Transcendental Meditation

Click here for contact information on receiving instruction in the TM technique in your home country.

  2. Drugs and Alcohol Policy. The use of drugs and/or alcohol is not permitted on campus nor is smoking permitted on any part of campus. Students enjoy a rich and wholesome vegetarian diet. No meat, chicken, or fish is served on campus. Fairfield has a number of good restaurants that serve a range of international foods. Off-campus meals are at the student’s own expense. The campus fire regulations strictly forbid cooking in dormitory rooms.
  3. Contact Information and F-1 Visa Status. All students are required to keep their contact information updated with the MBA Program office, including physical address, phone, and email addresses for the full duration of the Program. Students with F-1 visa status must comply with all SEVIS requirements to maintain legal status in the U.S. If a student’s visa status changes at any time during the program, the student is asked to notify the MBA Program office of the status change.

C. Academic

(1) Program Requirements
To graduate from the Program, students must meet all academic requirements. See the University Catalog for more information.
The Program consists of 53 academic credits. In addition to the 32 credits of courses conducted on campus, the Program requires 12 credits of distance education and 9 credits of practicum. Students may choose to fulfill part or all of the DE and practicum requirements through on-campus courses, but additional housing and meal charges will be incurred.
(2) Practicum Employment
The University will provide assistance and guidance to students in securing practicum employment as Accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/SAP) professionals. The University has contacts with more than 300 companies that have hired the University’s students. However, it is the student’s responsibility to secure the practical training position (with the help of the University). Students are required to diligently seek practical training positions after finishing their on-campus studies. Students are also required to cooperate fully with the University in placement activities. Like any other university, it is not guaranteed that every student will obtain a practical training position.

In the event the student does not get placed in CPT within 12 months of completion of the in-residence study, the full balance of program costs and charges shall be forgiven upon the students return to their home country.

D. Bank Loan

Upon being hired for an off-campus practicum job, the student will secure a loan from a University-arranged Bank to pay for the applicable program costs. This means that students will be accepted for the loan without posting any collateral. While the Bank will require some information from each student, they plan to extend credit to students in this Program who have been hired for off-campus practicum jobs. The Bank, of course, will require all students to sign a bank loan agreement.

The student’s bank loan will be at an interest rate set by the Bank based on its rates at the time of the issuance of the loan. Loan repayment schedules usually range between 12 and 24 months depending on the size of the loan and the monthly income earned during the professional training phase of the program.

In addition to bank loans, there may be other repayment methods for an intern or short-term contract positions that do not allow for a loan to be taken out due to a low salary or a short term of employment. In these cases, students will be asked to pay some portion of their monthly earnings that will be applied to their student account balance as a credit. The monthly amount is based on a formula that includes salary, relocation costs (if any), and cost of living index for their city and state. In this situation, the Finance Office will determine the monthly amount and then the student is required to sign a Student Account Payment Plan as a condition for their work authorization.

If you wish to remain on campus longer than four weeks, you will need to apply and be accepted to work on staff for 18 hours per week, which will cover the University’s cost of housing and meals. The University has very limited availability of this type of staff position and it may not be available to you.
