PhD in Maharishi Vedic Science Checklist for US Applicants
Recommendation
Request one recommendation from someone who can attest to your academic or professional performance. The recommendation should come from a current or former teacher or workplace supervisor. Other recommendations can be considered on a case-by-case basis. Send your recommender the link to our recommendation form, and they will submit it directly back to us.
Transcripts
Request that official transcripts from your bachelor’s and master’s degree programs be submitted to Maharishi International University. Transcripts must come directly to us from the institutions attended. Transcripts can be sent electronically to admisdoc@miu.edu. Paper copies should be mailed to the address below. Official transcripts sent by mail must be delivered to us in a sealed envelope; official transcripts sent by email must be password protected.

Since acceptance to the PhD in Maharishi Vedic Science requires completion of an MA in Maharishi Vedic Science or an MA in Consciousness and Human Potential at MIU, in some cases, it won’t be necessary for applicants to request transcripts from other schools; the Office of Admissions will request your MIU transcript from our Enrollment Center.
Interview
The Maharishi Vedic Science department will contact you to schedule an interview during your application process.
Essay
The purpose of this essay is for you to demonstrate your holistic and logical thinking. Please discuss this question: Why does Maharishi refer to the Richo Akshare verse as the master key verse of the Vedic literature? To help you organize your thoughts, we recommend that applicants purchase Introduction to Maharishi Vedic University and read pages 170-185, but you may instead download and then view and the relevant pages.
Your essay should:
- be written for an audience of other meditating college students who are not familiar with the principles of Maharishi Vedic Science
- be 1500-2000 words and double-spaced throughout
- include 3-4 quotes properly cited from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
- use APA referencing style. You should have a list of references cited, but you do not need to write an abstract
- define all technical terms of Maharishi Vedic Science used
