Recommendations

Submit two current letters of recommendation from professors who can assess your potential for doctoral-level work (required). You may also provide a third (optional) recommendation letter that will help us to assess your academic/research preparedness for the doctoral program. Send your recommender the link to our recommendation form, and they will submit it directly back to us.

Transcripts

Request that official transcripts from your bachelor’s and master’s degree programs be submitted to Maharishi International University. Transcripts must come directly to us from the institutions attended. Transcripts can be sent electronically to admisdoc@miu.edu. Paper copies should be mailed to the address below. Official transcripts sent by mail must be delivered to us in a sealed envelope; official transcripts sent by email must be password protected.

Essay – Personal Statement

Submit a 2-3 page personal statement explaining 1) your interest in the MIU PhD in Physiology and Health program, including your goals as a doctoral student in this program; and 2) your background and research experiences indicating your academic preparedness for undertaking this program. This essay should be emailed to your admissions counselor as an attachment.

Résumé

Present an up-to-date résumé or curriculum vitae that lists your degrees and relevant coursework, professional work experience, research, publications, awards, and any other accomplishments. To submit your résumé or CV, email it to your admissions counselor as an attachment.

Interview

Interviews by the program director for those who have completed their application and wish to be considered for formal acceptance to the doctoral program will begin approximately 3 months prior to the start of the semester.

Before your first class

All MIU students practice the Transcendental Meditation® technique. If you have not learned it yet:

  • Once accepted as a student, the cost of TM instruction is covered through a grant offered by MIU
  • Students are required to learn the TM technique before starting the first class
  • Contact your admissions counselor for details
  • Find information on the TM technique or search for a TM teacher at TM.org
