Learn more with less stress

At MUM, we know that a successful college arts education doesn’t have to be stressful. That’s why our students learn more with less stress through our innovative block system.

In the block system, you’ll be taking only one full time-course per month. When you take studio classes, you’ll be in the studio creating art all day, every day without the distraction of other courses.

Transcendental Meditation and a healthy lifestyle

Our class schedule incorporates daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique, which has been proven to reduce stress, enhance clarity of mind, and improve overall health.

You’ll also enjoy a healthy routine, single dorm rooms, and organic vegetarian meals.

Small classes & supportive faculty

Our student-to-faculty ratio is low, meaning that we usually have about 12 students per faculty member. This ensures that each student receives personalized feedback and support.

Program recognition

Every year, our Art Department hosts an experienced professor from another university as a visiting reviewer. They usually rate MUM art students in the top 20% they have seen, with some students in the top 10%.

“The MUM undergraduate BA program has an incredible art faculty that have a clear vision, extraordinary teaching skills and a deep rich knowledge of contemporary and historical art. They are artists/teachers that have taught their students to become strong, inventive, passionate art makers.”
—Susan Chrysler White, Professor of Painting and Drawing, University of Iowa
