Professors Who Care About Their Students

teacher and student at a computerStudents who transfer from other colleges often say there’s a big difference in how MUM professors relate to them. The reasons for this are:

Shared commitment to personal growth
All MUM professors practice the Transcendental Meditation technique to develop their inner potential — just like MUM students — and are deeply committed to providing Consciousness-Based education.
They have focused, under Maharishi’s guidance, on developing higher consciousness in their own lives and in society for many years. They are also dedicated to helping develop consciousness in their students.

Personal attention to each student
With MUM’s block system (one course per month), professors spend four hours a day with their students, going deeply into the field of study. And most classes are small — MUM has a 8:1 student-faculty ratio — allowing professors give students lots of personal attention and support.
Our students say MUM professors are among the most knowledgeable, caring, and supportive teachers that they’ve ever experienced.

Emphasis on student engagement and active learning
MUM emphasizes the value of student engagement and active learning. The small classes allow for an abundance of in-class student discussions and small group projects under the guidance of the professor.

Knowledgeable professors and relevant knowledge
MUM professors have higher degrees from such universities as:

  • Harvard University
  • Oxford University
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Stanford University
  • Princeton University
  • Johns Hopkins University
  • Yale University
  • University of California at Berkeley
  • Columbia University
  • Purdue University
  • University of Michigan
  • Cornell University

Making learning personally relevant

In every class, professors use Unified Field Charts that map the entire discipline of study, from its source in the unified field of nature’s intelligence to its applications in society. With these charts, students always have the whole field of study in front of them. This helps students relate each day’s class to the whole discipline and to the deepest level of their own intelligence. They feel at home with everything they study, which makes learning more effortless and enjoyable.
