At the Annual Conference of IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) on June 20, 2017, MIU Accounting faculty members Andrew Bargerstock and Ye Shi were recognized as the 2017 IMA Lybrand Gold Medal Award winners for the Best Article published in the peer-reviewed Strategic Finance journal. The article, “Are We Leaning Away from Standard Costing?: Reconciling Lean Accounting Theory and Practice,” was published in the June 2016 issue.
The IMA Lybrand Awards Committee determines the top three peer-reviewed articles based on their outstanding contributions to accounting and finance literature. In rank order, the Awards are Gold (#1), Silver (#2), and Bronze (#3). Authors of other high-rated articles receive Certificates of Merit.
In 2014, Bargerstock and Shi were awarded IMA’s Menconi Award for Best Accounting Ethics Article. In addition, both faculty members are two-time national award winners for Lean Accounting accomplishments. Dr. Bargerstock recently published a new business book, Mastering Leadership Alignment: Linking Value Creation to Cash Flow, with Business Expert Press.
The Institute of Management Accountants was formed in 1919. Currently, there are more than 85,000 members in 140 countries. IMA is the only organization to offer the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification, examinations, and a variety of support and educational programs.
