Students Visit State Capitol for Environmental Lobby Day
Students and faculty members from the Sustainable Living department at Maharishi International University visited Des Moines, Iowa’s capital, on February 17th for the annual Environmental Lobby Day/REAP Day at the Capitol.
With speakers such as Senator Dvorsky (D- Johnson), Senator Johnson (R-Osceola), Margo Underwood (Chair; Iowa Natural Resources Commission), Mark Ackelson (President Emeritus; Iowa natural Heritage Foundation) and Ralph Rosenberg (Executive Director; Iowa Environmental Council), the students were able to get a strong sense of how legislators and lobbyists feel about current environmental issues, and what they are currently doing about these issues.
