In Fall 2014, the new batch of doctoral students embarked upon their research journey. In the first year of the program they dive deep into the MVS knowledge under the guidance of the professors. In the second year, the individual research begins. We’d like to present the PhD in Vedic Science program through the new students and their impressions of the program.

 Krista Noble

Krista is a straight A student, and is brilliant both academically and in other areas of interest. She is the youngest in the class but stands out with the sharp logic in written papers and presentations.

She describes herself as “an enthusiastic 25-year-old who loves philosophical discussions, creative writing, photography, Tae Kwon Do, ballroom dancing and international travel.”

At the age of 10 years, Krista learned TM, following the example of her parents. “My parents were both sidhas and I could see how TM had benefited them,” says Krista. Her love of Maharishi’s commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita eventually inspired her to come to MIU and learn more about Maharishi’s teachings.

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in History at Hillsdale College in Michigan, she enrolled the Master’s Degree in Maharishi Vedic Science. Her love of the subject matter made her pursue even more knowledge and she applied for the PhD MVS program in the following year. She enjoys the program, in particular class discussions and the oral presentations.

Krista-hikingMIU students gain knowledge which is experiential as well as intellectual. Krista was familiar with this concept before coming to MIU, but her experiences here have made it more meaningful. She has also tackled some new challenges, such as weekly oral presentations and memorizing numerous Sanskrit terms and expressions, which has given her new confidence.

Krista’s plan for the future is to become a professor and share Maharishi’s knowledge with the world. Her message for anyone who is interested in this program is “If your classmates are anything like mine, you’ll be surrounded by diverse, intelligent and accomplished individuals who deeply love Maharishi’s knowledge.”
