Scholarship Contest!

The DLMFA is pleased to offer four Peter Farrelly “Excellence in Screenwriting” scholarships. Peter will be judging the finalists in this competition. Each of these awards will be worth $2,500 towards tuition.

To be eligible for these scholarships, applications and portfolio work must be submitted  by October 1st, 2016.

Web/TV Series Scholarship Winners 2016

The David Lynch MFA in Film program offered two scholarships for the 2016 entry, available thanks to generous support from donors.

  • Film Competition Award: Full-tuition (3-semester) scholarship. Winner chosen by David Lynch!
  • Screenwriting Competition Award: $10,000 towards tuition. Winner chosen by Producer Bill Borden

Scholarship Winners!

GolnazJamsheedHeadshotGolnaz Jamsheed  is this year’s Joanna Plafsky DLMFA Film Scholar for her film “Avo”.

David Lynch picked the winner of the David Lynch Masters in Film 2016 short film competition.

Avo tells the story of an Iranian Armenian boy who experiences the concept of death through his grandfather’s passing. Being neglected by the grown-ups at the funeral, he finds a way to stay in touch with his grandfather from beyond the grave.

 

GrahamCooper IMG_9882Graham Cooper is this year’s Joanna Plafsky DLMFA Writing Scholar for his film “Anaya’s Journey”.

Bill Borden picked the winner of the David Lynch Masters of Fine Arts in Film 2016 short screenplay competition.

In “Anaya’s Journey” a mother of two finally receives the relaxation she feels she deserves, but only at an emotional cost that undermines her tranquil present.

Graham and Golnaz will join the new group of Master’s students who are participating in the David Lynch Master of Fine Arts in Film TV/Web Series Program being offered at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. This unique 3-semester Masters program begins February 13, 2017 and will continue through June 22, 2018. The students will collaborate to write and produce a complete TV/Web Series over the course of the program.

Congratulations to the winners and all the finalists in both competitions! All the finalists submitted excellent, creative work making the judges’ jobs very challenging.
