Letter from Susan Huggins
When I was 17 years old I had an important choice to make. I had to choose what college to attend. By some stroke of unimaginable fortune I came to hear of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, his teachings, and the university he was about to begin at that time. In one momentous decision (I had no idea how momentous it was going to be for me) I withdrew my acceptance to a prestigious East coast school and headed out to an apartment complex in Santa Barbara, California to attend what was then called Maharishi international University.
Today, almost 40 years later, I continue to feel that this was the best single decision I ever made my life – along with of course the decision to marry Peter Huggins who I met at the University in Santa Barbara!
Why is that? Because now, with much more of life lived, I fully understand that happiness, fulfillment, and success in life is determined:
- Not from what you do, but from what you are
- Not from what comes your way, but from what you do with what lands in your lap
- Not from the events in your life, but from the strength and quality of your consciousness for choosing and participating in these events
Maharishi knew all of that, and created a university and school that upheld these truths by teaching that growth of consciousness is the source, course and goal of all knowledge. That University was a gem then, and continues to be a shining gem today. Maharishi University of Management fills a very unique place in the world of education. it continues to offer, in my opinion, most powerful, most pertinent, and most fulfilling education one can ask for, the education of how to be!
Now, many years later, I have the opportunity to offer financial support to these institutions, both Maharishi University of Management and Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment (grades preschool through 12).
It is important to me that these Consciousness–Based educational institutions continue to have a strong vital presence for this generation and for many generations to come. Our help can make this happen.
Today I’m thinking that giving generously to MUM and Maharishi School may just be the single best investment I could ever make!
Think about it. Give generously. Every gift makes a difference.
Thank you for your support,
All the best,
Susan Felix Huggins ’77
