Mark Ellinghaus is the Director of the MUM Intensive English Program. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from MUM.
In mid-1997, he moved to Guatemala to gain fluency in Spanish. His experiences as a language learner sparked a keen interest in modern theories and practical techniques for second language acquisition and he began his career as an instructor of ESL, eventually opening an English language school in Guatemala, where he taught for several years. He joined the MUM Intensive English Program in 2011.
“Our students in the Intensive English Program did not come to MUM primarily for English but to complete their academic degrees, so our focus in class is always on those techniques that are most effective in furthering language acquisition. This is so students do not need to spend any more time studying English than is necessary to ensure success in their degree programs.”
