Local TV Interview with Dr. Thimmaiah Director of ROAP

MUM’s new Regenerative Organic Agriculture Program (ROAP) gets its face on the local news. This new program is designed to put classroom knowledge to work in the field.  Students study through the winter and in spring hit the dirt farming MUM’s 26-acre farm close to campus.   Dr. Thimmaiah created this set of courses with the intention of providing access to the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to farm organically in a way that regenerates the soil.

MUM’s Sustainable Living Center Recognized for Energy Efficiency

Maharishi University of Management’s Schwartz-Guich Sustainable Living Center has caught the attention of Getting to Net Zero, an organization that keeps track of ultra-efficient buildings and their energy usage.

According to their calculations, the Sustainable Living Center’s net Energy Use Intensity (EUI) was -0.5 in 2015, indicating that the building produced 5 percent more energy than it used.

Getting to Net Zero said that the Center is among the highest-performing buildings they had encountered, especially given Iowa’s harsh climate.
