Dr. Bargerstock Publishes Book on Implementing Business Planning
MUM MBA Director Dr. Andrew Bargerstock has coauthored a new book, entitled Mastering Leadership Alignment: Linking Value Creation with Cash Flow, in collaboration with business consultant Jahn Ballard, published by Business Expert Press.
The book addresses the lack of connection between business planning and implementation. Dr. Bargerstock noticed that courses in business strategy didn’t provide a solution to bridge this gap, so he teamed up with Jahn Ballard, who has developed a systematic methodology for guiding organizations to higher levels of success.
“After years of trying to figure out how to connect planning and implementation, I discovered the work of Ballard,” Dr. Bargerstock said. “It was the solution to what I called ‘the missing methodology.’”
In their new book, the authors reveal the methodology for effectively guiding an organization to higher achievement of objectives and improved cash flow. Readers discover how to connect organizational missions to day-to-day activities.
The book provides step-by-step procedures on how to involve senior leadership in effectively maintaining the organization’s strategic goals while improving the approach to management.
The head of the company initiates the process, and gradually the senior management and all the employees join in to offer input for identifying and solving problems in order to improve critical business processes. The goal of the process is to create an organization-wide consensus about how to be successful and build long-term customer loyalty.
Dr. Bargerstock is the founder and director of the Accounting Professionals MBA Program and teaches a variety of accounting and management courses. He also publishes periodic articles and research studies on lean accounting and consults with organizations on implementing lean accounting.
