James Wilson – Battlefield Meteorologist Studies Vedic Science at MUM
James Wilson grew up in Seattle, Washington, and joined the U.S. Air Force at 19. Always looking for unique experiences, he became a battlefield meteorologist. While stationed in the U.S., Europe, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq, he provided combat weather support to Army aviation and infantry units. In 2011, he was named the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Battlefield Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.
James had been interested in quantum physics and discovered the work of Dr. John Hagelin. Soon he learned about the Transcendental Meditation® program and read Maharishi’s Science of Being and Art of Living, which inspired him to learn the TM® technique. But it wasn’t until he left the Air Force, after six years of service, that he was able to learn TM in the fall of 2012.
Within less than a year, he came to MUM for a Visitors Weekend, enrolled to study Maharishi Vedic ScienceSM, joined the Enlightened Leadership Program, and learned the TM-Sidhi® program.
“I love everything about MUM,” James said. “I love the people and the support you get, the consciousness approach, and being able to incorporate Maharishi’s knowledge into every discipline. It’s such a warm and happy place to be. I always feel at home.”
This past summer, James completed an internship with the David Lynch Foundation Operation Warrior Wellness program helping to organize an event in Washington, D.C. to teach the TM technique to veterans free of charge.
As part of his Enlightened Leadership Program training, James is working with the Office of Admissions to establish a Student Veterans Association chapter at MUM. He thinks that MUM’s ideal routine is an excellent transition for veterans leaving the military’s orderly environment.
“James is a natural leader,” said Adrienne Schoenfeld, director of the Enlightened Leadership Program. “He comes to leadership with a true desire to serve and to support everyone’s efforts. It’s wonderful to watch James dive right in with whatever needs to be done, not even giving it a second thought, and carry out the job on the highest level. He is above all else compassionate, kind, and deeply desiring to do great things in this world.”
