Graphic Designer, Photographer

Wissile Sogoyou grew up in the small African country of Togo, where his parents teach the Transcendental Meditation® technique. Finding the educational system in his country very stressful, he came to MUM looking for a supportive community that would act as his extended family.

He intended to study sustainable living, but the very first class he attended on Internet marketing turned him around. He began spending all his free time learning to make websites and he soon fell in love with graphic design. His newly-discovered interests and passion for learning then led him to study photography and video production. He graduated in 2013 with a BA in media and communications and a minor in business.

“Thanks to the teachings of Maharishi, I was able to find my potential and the studies I was meant to pursue,” said Wissile.

During his time at MUM, Wissile completed internships with several local businesses, MUM, and the David Lynch Foundation. As a result, he accumulated a diverse portfolio in advertising, video production, photography, and Web design. He created a promotional video and several advertising banners for MUM, redesigned the MUM website, and helped launch MUMTV with marketing director Paul Stokstad.

“Exceptional may be an overused word, but in Wissile’s case it really applies, since his energy level, creativity, project engagement, and actual artistic output are all clearly above the norm,” said Paul Stokstad.

“The deep experiences and achievements I gained from MUM are things I would love to share with the rest of the world,” Wissile said. “I strongly feel the need to help young children in Africa, especially in Togo, to develop their full potential and find success.”
