Our BS in Physiology and Health degree offers three specialization tracks: a Maharishi AyurVeda Wellness Consultant Track, a Pre-Integrative Medicine Track, and a Pre-Naturopathic Medicine Track. Each track will prepare you with the skills you need for graduate school, graduate training, or a career in your chosen area.

Maharishi AyurVeda Wellness Consultant Track

Our popular Maharishi AyurVeda Wellness Consultant track prepares students to be health educators and consultants in the field of natural prevention of disease and promotion of health.

In this track, you’ll study how to prevent disease and promote health by using Maharishi AyurVeda.

Topics You’ll Study on this Track Include:

  • How to detect balance and imbalance in the body by feeling the pulse
  • Diets that balance and nourish the physiology
  • How to use aromatherapy and essences to promote health and well-being
  • Using Yoga postures to enliven mind-body coordination
  • How to consult with clients, family, and friends to help them achieve health and wellness through Maharishi AyurVeda

Pre-Integrative Medicine Track

Integrative medicine is the practice of modern, conventional medicine integrated with natural, complementary, and alternative medical practices.

Our Pre-Integrative Medicine Track offers foundational courses in both modern science and Maharishi AyurVeda that will prepare you for medical school, graduate training, and a career in integrative health care.

This track offers courses in physics, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biology, all areas of study that are required for most medical schools and are included in the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

In addition to these conventional medical courses, you will also be studying a variety of areas related to Maharishi AyurVeda, including:

  • How to align your lifestyle with the daily and seasonal rhythms of nature
  • The multitude of ways that diet can create health
  • How to promote natural health in the areas of preconception, pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal care
  • The foundations of human anatomy and physiology from the perspectives of both modern science and ancient Vedic science
  • How to practice the knowledge of Maharishi AyurVeda with clients in a clinical setting

Pre-Naturopathic Medicine Track

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of health care that emphasizes the use of prevention and natural therapeutics for both acute and chronic health conditions.

Our Pre-Naturopathic Medicine track is tailored to prepare you for graduate training in the field of naturopathic medicine and offers courses that are required for admission to most naturopathic medical schools, including biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and psychology.

In addition to these foundational medical courses you’ll also be studying a wide range of Maharishi AyurVeda topics, including:

  • Family health, including the areas of preconception, pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal care
  • How to detect balance and imbalance in the body by feeling the pulse
  • How Yoga postures can enliven mind-body coordination
  • Training as a Maharishi AyurVeda Wellness Consultant who can consult with clients, family, and friends to help them achieve higher levels of health and wellness through Maharishi AyurVeda
  • The scientific foundations of health as seen from the perspectives of modern science and ancient Vedic science

Note: Some medical schools, healthcare training programs, and naturopathic schools may require additional coursework that is not required by our major programs. Students should consult with the admissions office of the school they are planning to attend after graduation to determine if they need to take additional classes.

Faculty Profile: Liis Mattik

Professor Mattik, PhD, is a natural, holistic, preventive health care practitioner-educator-scientist. She has been teaching, training, educating, overseeing curricula, and consulting people in methods of Maharishi AyurVeda over 20 years in University and public sectors. She has been giving individualized recommendations for maintaining or improving health, and preventing or reversing aging by utilizing pulse diagnosis, diet, digestion, nutrition, herbs, minerals, essential oils, color therapy, yoga asanas – body postures, pranayama – breathing therapies, prevention of disease, seasonal purification program including Pancha Karma, and the Transcendental Meditation technique.
