In our PhD in Maharishi Vedic Science program, you’ll choose from one of several tracks to research Maharishi Vedic Science at a deep level and become an expert in the field.
You can begin the doctoral program, the highest level of academic study of Maharishi Vedic Science, after completion of the MA in Maharishi Vedic Science.
The first year involves in-depth study of:
- The foundational principles of Maharishi Vedic Science, including Maharishi’s most recent publications
- Sanskrit and reading Vedic Literature
- Scientific research on the Transcendental Meditation® program
- Scientific methodology
- The discovery of Veda in the human physiology

Faculty profile: William Sands
Dr. William Sands is the Program Director for the Online MA in Maharishi Vedic Science, Dean of the College of Maharishi Vedic Science and Associate Professor of Maharishi Vedic Science and Sanskrit. He earned an MA and PhD from Maharishi University of Management, an MSCI from Maharishi European Research University, and a BSBA from Georgetown University. He is the author of two books, entitled Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and His Gift to the World, and Maharishi’s Yoga: The Royal Road to Enlightenment.
