A major in Educational Foundations is designed especially for students who are interested in working in educational settings but do not plan to become a classroom teacher. Students who would like to design educational programs for communities or businesses will find this major provides a strong background of knowledge and skills. The major is a good choice for students who would like to work in after school or enrichment programs for children or young adults. Many students who major in Educational Foundations intend to go graduate school in education-related fields.
Students who would like to work at the Pre-K or elementary level are encouraged to meet with an advisor in the Education Department to set up a program within the major that focuses on early childhood and elementary education. They can take advantage of courses and internships that give them practical experience working with children in the University’s laboratory school.
Like other MUM programs, the BA in Education provides a thorough training in the principles and practices of Consciousness-Based℠ education.
