FAQ for Noncredit Online Courses

How is content delivered?

Noncredit courses are delivered through an online learning platform (Sakai). There are videotaped lectures and supplemental readings. These courses are taken for personal enrichment.

What if I forget my login information?

If you forget your login information or have any questions regarding login, please contact us at de@mum.edu. We are always happy to help.

What if I signed up for a webinar and missed it?

Most online webinars are recorded and uploaded to the course page so that it may be viewed at your convenience.

What if I have technical difficulties?

Please contact de@mum.edu with technical issues and we will work with you to resolve them. Please let us know what browser and operating system you are using.

 

What equipment do I need to view the courses?

You will need internet access using one of the popular browsers including: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc. Your experience will be better if you have high speed internet access.

How do I view the lessons?

Most of the distance education courses from MUM are viewed online. We use learning management system (Sakai) that provides each participant with a unique login, allowing you to view course materials at your convenience from any high speed internet connection.

Can the course be downloaded?

Course materials are presented in various forms, many of which can be downloaded. Course videos are normally streamed and not available to be downloaded.

How often can I view the lessons?

You can view the lessons as often as you like anytime during the course period.

How long do I have access to the course?

It depends on whether you are taking the course for credit or noncredit. For credit courses, please refer to the course schedule at the program information website. For noncredit courses, students will have access to the course for 6 months. For noncredit short courses students will have access for 1 year.

Is transfer credit available?

Students enrolled in other universities should check with their own institutions about transferring credit for any course. Generally noncredit courses cannot transfer as a credit course.  It is up to the incoming institution. Please check with your institution or program advisor.

Can someone use my account to view the course?

The course can only be viewed with the unique login information that you are given. You should not transfer or give your account/login information to any other person.
