Practical Knowledge to Transform Health
Maharishi Ayurveda is a natural, prevention-oriented approach to healthcare. Maharishi Ayurveda is Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's revival of the complete knowledge of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda means “Science of Life” in Sanskrit.  It is a complete science of natural health addressing mind, body, emotions and consciousness. Maharishi Ayurveda uses meditation, diet, lifestyle, herbs, purification therapies and even architecture to enhance health and vitality.

Here are three things you can do today to improve your health.

1. Get enough sleep, at the right time.
Ayurveda recommends being in tune with nature. In this case being in tune with the cycles of the sun. The sun is a very powerful source of energy, not only for plants, but for all of us. If we rest not too long after sundown and wake up somewhere around sunrise, we will gain energy, clarity and vitality and improve our thinking and dynamism. For students this is very useful for performing well and learning at a deeper level.

2. Eat lunch as the main meal of the day.
Again the sun is the source of energy and heat in our world. In Ayurveda our digestive power is called Agni or fire. When the sun is highest, our digestive power is strongest. When the sun sets our digestive fire is also reduced. And "we are what we eat" in a very real sense. Ayurveda considers digestive power, or agni the basis of health, strength, intellect and immunity. So a bigger lunch and a lighter dinner can greatly enhance one's vitality and health.

3. Take some spices with meals.
Did you know there are over 1500 modern studies on the beneficial effects of turmeric? It has been found to be anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory. Ayurveda has an extensive natural pharmacopia of herbs, spices and minerals. In Ayurveda food is medicine. And spices are very special natural medicinals. Try a simple mix of cumin, fennel, coriander and turmeric. Saute 1/4 tsp of each in ghee and add it to your soup or veggies or grains. It makes food more delicious, which enhances digestion, appetite and helps assimilate all the good things in your food.
