Student Housing

One of the University’s primary missions is to provide a great residential experience while educating and fostering students to achieve academic and personal growth. Regardless of where you live while attending the University, our housing office wants to assist you in finding a comfortable place to call home so that you can focus on your academic goals, social and personal learning.

We encourage all undergraduate students without dependents to live on campus, to give them the whole experience of college life.

Our graduate and undergraduate students over 25 years of age are given the option to live off-campus or in Utopia Park — a community made up of faculty, staff and mature students on the northern edge of campus.

Married students may live on campus, depending upon the availability of on-campus housing. Students with children are required to live in town or in Utopia Park. For assistance in contacting local real estate agents or Utopia Park, please contact the Housing Office.

Our students also have the opportunity to live in new campus housing designed in accordance with natural law. This housing, built according to ancient principles of Vedic architecture, offers a private bathroom, a living room, kitchen area, and a washer and dryer for clothes. There is a waiting list for this housing, and the cost to live in it is higher.

Each housing unit has a Resident Advisor (an upper division student) who helps new students become familiar with campus life and is skilled to assist with personal questions and concerns.

Please note that you may be asked to move your belongings out of your room during the Winter or Spring breaks to enable the University make use of this space, if necessary for courses which may be held during your absence.

On-Campus Policy

Students, as well as faculty and staff, are required to live on campus, because this provides the basis for an integrated learning environment, facilitating students’ access to faculty and focus on the educational process. Exceptions are listed as follows:

Graduate Students

  • Students may live in residence halls, Utopia Park or town.
  • Students with dependents may live in Utopia Park or town.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students live in residence halls with the following exceptions:

  • Married undergraduates may live in residence halls, Utopia Park or town. (Limited married student housing is available on campus.)
  • Students with dependents may live in Utopia Park or town.
  • Students whose parents live in town have the option to live at home. (A written statement from the parents is required.)
  • Students over 25 years of age may live in residence halls, Utopia Park or town.

Undergraduate students who do not qualify for the exceptions listed above must petition the Academic Standards Committee if they wish to request permission to live off campus.

We encourage off-campus students to live in Utopia Park, which offers 200 units of family housing on the north end of campus. It is conveniently located close to the classrooms, meditation halls, and dining hall.

Single and Double Rooms

At present, only single rooms are available on campus. At times it is necessary for the Housing Office to make adjustments in room occupancy to accommodate changing University needs. Also, the University reserves the right to change room assignments during the school year under special circumstances.

In the event of single and double occupancy on campus, the following policies apply:

  • Students who receive financial aid from the U.S. government who wish to change from a single to a double room once the year has begun must visit the Financial Aid office to revise their financial aid budget and award to match the reduction in charges.
  • To change from a double to a single room, charges will be increased accordingly, but the financial aid award will not be increased to cover this additional charge.
  • If a student occupies a double room and wishes to change rooms, he or she must find a new roommate before moving. Students will be charged the single room rate after three days if they move into a new room without a roommate. If a designated roommate chooses to move out, please come to the Housing Office to arrange for a new roommate within three working days or your billing status will change from a double to a single accommodation.
