By the end of this program, you will:
-Gain an inspiring knowledge of art history: You will understand
art from many time periods as expressions of aesthetic values, of the
cultural and historical context of art making, and of universal values of
consciousness.
Skills
By the end of this program, you will have:
-Cultivated studio practice: You will gain competence in manual skills,
a thorough grounding in technical knowledge, and an understanding of
materials and processes in specific areas of art.
-Cultivated writing skills: You will be able to write clearly and
meaningfully about art.
Polished presentation skills: You will be able to speak effectively about
art.
-Developed research skills: You will know how to locate, evaluate, and
properly use valuable, relevant and credible sources.
Values
By the end of this program, you will:
-Appreciate the development of consciousness: You will understand
the value of regularly drawing upon the universal source of creativity,
pure consciousness, through the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi
programs to culture the "art of living," a high quality of life characterized
by happiness, vitality and alertness, and the effortless, joyful flow of
creativity.
-Appreciate art in the light of consciousness: You will begin to
experience and understand, as part of your own self, the natural laws
that structure the creative process, the art work, and the development of
consciousness of the artist, audience, and culture.
Enjoy the expression of uplifting values: You will be able to express
values nourishing to the artist, the viewer and the culture, applying art to

B.F.A.
students gain all of the knowledge, skills, and values of the B.A. program as well
as the following:
Knowledge
By the end of this program, you will have gained:
-Working knowledge of materials: You will have a general vocabulary
of materials and understand how chosen materials behave; and therefore
what to use to achieve the desired results.
-Meaningful art criticism: You will be able to intelligently describe,
interpret, and evaluate contemporary and traditional works of art.
Working knowledge of the tradition of art: You will know how to
access past artists and art works as sources of inspiration, and can
articulate in a general way how the your art work connects to the
historical and contemporary context.
Skills
By the end of this program, you will have:
-Refined perceptual vision: You will be able to discriminate aspects of
the formal language of art and make successful aesthetic choices.
Coherent conceptual vision: You will be able to understand and apply
principles of art and actualize ideas.
-Systematic process: You will understand your strengths and how to
utilize them in organizing the conditions for successful studio practice.
Effective technique: You will become versed in using art materials and
tools and grounded in the technology of your area of focus.
Values
By the end of this program, you will have developed yourself as an:
-Inspired, self-sufficient artist: You will develop intuition and sensibility,
allowing you to determine— through the repeated practice of creation,
observation, and feedback—what is needed to successfully express your
