INTIMATE ITALY: An Ecogastronomic Tour

Italian food and cultural expert, Gisella Isidori will lead the tour, assisted by KRUU’s Steve Boss, host of the weekly radio program Great Taste.
The tour will feature meaningful exchanges with sustainable farmers, artisan producers, and chefs, along with the experience of gorgeous countryside, art, and other free-time activities.
Depart from Bologna airport: 2:00 pm (only pick up time!). Drive to Grand Hotel Terme, Riolo Terme. Welcome Dinner.
Trip to the medieval town of Brisighella. Tasting Day-local cheeses, olive oil and wines.
Visit the village of Casola Valsenio and its famous herb garden with Chef Katia. Gather herbs for the cooking lesson and dinner with Chef Katia at her restaurant, Fava.
Tour city of Ravenna and amazing mosaics. Lunch at Agriturismo Artimesia. Ceramic museums and shopping in Faenza. Dinner at a local trattoria.
Departure from Terme di Riolo-Visit a traditional balsamic vinegar acetaia and learn the intricacies of tasting, and Azienda Agricola San Polo organic producers of Lambrusco, ancient wheat and farro, and many other Emilian delicacies. Dinner at
the Agri San Polo ristorante. Arrive at Albergo Corsini, Rocca Corneta.
Visit Rocca dei Fiori-an amazing biodynamic herb farm
Biking, hiking, relaxing.
A cooking lesson featuring dishes from the local Emilian area; watch and learn about milling grain at a stone mill that is hundreds of years old and still operating, and visit a Slow Food Presidia charged with protecting trout.
Leave Lizzano and head to Bologna. Learn how the King of Cheeses is made at an organic parmigiano reggiano producer, and take a tour of some of Bologna’s amazing food shops.
Option Day-Travel to Florence in 37 minutes on the high-speed train and explore museums or spend the day walking around the amazing city of Bologna. Farewell dinner in Bologna.
Costs and Logistics
Only 21 spots are available on the tour! The cost of the tour is $2995.00 double occupancy. Single accommodations may require an additional fee. A $500.00 deposit (fully refundable until 11/1/2013) will hold your place. Final payment due 1/15/2014.

Cost of the tour includes: All group transportation during the tour with pickup at the Bologna airport; all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner-beginning with dinner on the arrival day and ending with breakfast on the day of departure) vegetarian and non-vegetarian options; all tours (except for museums in Florence) and cooking lessons; hotel rooms; and guides.
Not included: Transportation and airfare to and from Bologna; Any additional activities such as spa treatments, golf, etc.; Alcoholic beverages; Special transportation for activities outside the normal group itinerary. Transportation back to the Bologna airport from our local hotel. Food outside of the regular meal plan. Optional travel to Florence (Day 9).
