You care about people, and you care about the environment. Now learn how to make that work in business.

Our MBA in Sustainable Business will train you in how to create or support a profitable business that offers life-sustaining products and services while helping you grow into the best person you can be.

Success from Within

As a student in the Maharishi MBA, you’ll practice the Transcendental Meditation technique daily. This evidence-based technique reduces stress, enhances clear thinking, and gets you in touch with the deepest, most authentic part of yourself—to help you unfold your full potential.

Professors Who Care

In small classes—MBA courses typically are under 20 students—you get to know your professors and they get to know you. You’ll always have the benefit of their knowledge and support.

Socially and Environmentally Responsible Management

In this course, Dr. Dennis Heaton shows you how to develop the consciousness, knowledge, and practical skills to create sustainable value—fulfilling the interests of shareholders by producing life-supporting benefits for all organizational stakeholders and the natural environment. You learn the sources of sustainable value—doing well by doing good—and how to actualize sustainable value in existing businesses.

Sustainable Technologies

Developed by Professor Scott Herriott over six years, and resulting in his 2015 book, this course gives you a basic understanding of the engineering concepts and terminology that you will encounter when working with the technical people who sell and install sustainable technologies. Lessons in applied finance show how to evaluate the feasibility of a proposal for solar, wind or biogas power or energy efficiency.

Sustainable Community Development

This project-based course is taught by Ayako Huang, MPA, Ph.D., whose degree in public administration makes her right at home working to improve the sustainability of communities, cities, and counties. In small groups, MBA students identify a problem, analyze it, and propose solutions to their client.

Metrics for Sustainable Business

In this course, also developed by Professor Herriott through research that led to his 2016 book on the subject, you learn how to design and write the annual sustainability report for a company or public organization by applying the principles and practices of sustainability accounting.

Leading Organizational Change for Sustainability

You have ideas for change. How do you make them work? You need to understand the “people” issues in effective change management, including key factors such as resistance to change, responsible change leadership, and implementing change in a diverse global environment. Extensive experiential material and an outside field study are used to illustrate change intervention strategies with an emphasis on “soft side” change issues.
