Literature (B.A.)
Degree Requirements
In addition to the requirements below for the B.A. in Literature, students need to satisfy the general requirements for a bachelor’s degree.
48 credits of course work are required for the B.A. in Literature, as follows:
Required courses
- LIT 350 American Transcendentalism
- LIT 351 American Modernism
- LIT 335 Shakespeare’s Festival of Comedy
- LIT 208 The Bhagavad-Gita as Literature or LIT 302 The Epic (Ramayana)
- LIT 325 The Classics of Greece & Rome or LIT 355 Asian Literature
plus 3 historical surveys among the following:
- LIT 320 Medieval Literature
- LIT 339 Renaissance Literature
- LIT 341 18th-Century Literature
- LIT 344 Romantic Literature
- LIT 347 Victorian
- LIT 348 20th-Century European Literature
plus literature courses from other literature course electives adding up to 48 credits overall
