As a part of the MIU Sustainable Living department’s Distinguished Lecture Series, Richard Register, a MIU Visiting Scholar, spoke about his solution for humanity’s environmental problems: ecocities.

Richard is the author of the visionary book: Ecocities, and founder of Ecocity Builders, the home base for the ecocity movement. Their mission is to reshape cities for the long-term health of human and natural systems.

Most of the world’s population now lives in cities. The built environment of cities, towns and villages needs a radical new idea: ecocities – to fit a new paradigm of healthy life on this planet. If we are to address the problems of environmental deterioration and peak oil adequately, cities have to be a major focus of attention. Richard shares his ideas of what it might look like and why it is needed from an evolutionary perspective. View the talk here:
