Objects
Grouping Objects
Group objects to move and edit them together, as one object. For example, once you have a box and arrow that you like, you can group them and duplicate the box and arrow in one action. To group objects, select them and press Ctrl/Cmd + G (or choose Modify > Group).
To ungroup an object, select is and press Ctrl/Cmd + U (or choose Modify > Ungroup). You need to ungroup the boxes to resize them.
Aligning and Distributing Objects
To
even up the boxes and place them the same distance apart, you need to
align and distribute them. First select two or
more objects. Click Align on the toolbar or choose Modify > Align.
The top drop-down list lets you align tops, centers and bottoms. You
can also distribute centers, bottoms, and heights.
The bottom drop-down list lets you align left, center, and right. You can also distribute centers, rights, and widths. You often need to use both lists to get the results that you want.
Align the centers of the arrow and the box to center an arrow relative to the box. Also, make sure that the text box is inside the larger box when aligning or moving.
Arranging Objects (in Front of and Behind Other Objects)
Often, you need to place objects in front of or behind other objects. For example, the arrows are behind the boxes so that they seem to be coming out of the boxes. To work on the arrows you probably need to move them in front of the boxes, and then back behind when you're done.
To arrange an object, select it first:
- To bring it all the way to the front, choose Modify > Arrange > Bring to Front or press Ctrl/Cmd + F.
- To send it all the way to the back, choose Moldify > Arrange > Send to Back or press Ctrl/Cmd + B.
