Getting Started with Outlook Express for E-mail
Reading an E-mail and Replying to E-mail
Reading E-mail
When you open Outlook Express, if you are connected to the Internet, it generally looks for e-mail automatically. If not, click Send/Recv.
Get to your Inbox either by clicking Inbox on the left panel or by clicking the underlined word Inbox on the right panel.
Unopened e-mails show a closed envelope icon at their left. To open an e-mail message, double-click it.
Use the scrollbars to scroll through the message as you read.
Viewing an Attached File
Warning! If you are not expecting this attachment, do not open it! Attachments may contain harmful computer viruses! Instead, confirm with the sender the nature of the attachment.
To open the file, double-click the Attachment or its icon (a paper clip). Note that Outlook Express automatically saves attached files in c:/windows/temp. You can go to that folder and move the attachments to another location if you wish.
Replying to E-mail
To reply to an e-mail, click Reply. Outlook Express automatically fills in the To box. Type and subject and your message just as you would any e-mail. Then click Send.
