Dialing Up to the Internet Through M.U.M.
Setting M.U.M. Connection Properties
Now you need to specify settings specific to this dial-up connection:
- Right-click the M.U.M. icon in the Dial-Up Networking window
and choose Properties (or go to the menu and choose File >
Properties).
- Click the Server Types tab, shown in the figure.
- The Type of Dial-Up Server should be PPP:Internet, Windows NT
Server, Windows 98 (or something similar, depending on the version
of Windows you have).
- There should be a check next to Log On to Network
- There should be a check next to Enable Software
Compression.
- Require Encrypted Password and Require Data Encryption should
not be checked.
- If you want to keep a log file of your dial up connections,
you can check Record a Log File for This Connection.
- In the Allowed Network Protocols, only TCP/IP should be
checked.
- Click TCP/IP Settings to open the TCP/IP Settings dialog box,
as shown in the figure.
- Server Assigned IP Address should be selected at the top.
- In the middle section, Server Assigned Name Server Addresses
should be selected.
- Use IP Header Compressions should not be checked.
- Use Default Gateway on Remote Network should be checked.
- Click OK twice to return to the Dial-Up Networking window. Congratulations! You have completed setting up your dial-up networking connection. You are now ready to connect.
