Setting Up Eudora Light for E-mail
Note: These steps were tested with a PC on Eudora Light 3 and with a Mac on Eudora Light 5. If you have different versions, the steps might be slightly different.
- Apply for an email account from Information Systems in Room 29 of Bldg. 402. Fill out the E-mail/Internet Account Application. Call 472-1170 for more information. You will receive a sheet of paper with the information you need to set up your e-mail account in Eudora Light.
- Open Eudora Light. Choose Tools > Options (or Special > Settings in some versions). Click the Getting Started category. The first time you open Eudora Light, this panel may be opened automatically for you.
- Under User Name, type your User ID, that is, the first part of your e-mail address, the part before the @. (In older versions, under POP Account, type your User ID followed by @mum.edu. For example, imnlitnd@mum.edu.)
- The Mail Server is mum.edu.
- Under Real Name, type your full name.
- If you see a screen for SMTP Server: type mail.mum.edu.
- Under Return Address, type your full e-mail address given to you by Information Systems. (This will probably be the same as the POP Account. If the screen says this is not necessary, then you don't need to type it.)
- The connection method should be Winsock.
- If you are connecting by dialing up via a modem, click Personal Info in the Category pane. Under Dialup Username, type the (Kerberos) username you were given by Information Systems.
- Under SMTP type mail.mum.edu. If you didn't complete the SMTP Server earlier (this depends on your version), you may need to click Hosts in the Category pane.
The first time you use Eudora Light, fill in your password when requested.
