CREATE A MAJOR FILM
A great feature of this one-year MA degree is that it allows a select group of students to dedicate a great deal of time to realize their creative vision and create a major work that makes an impact in the professional world. The program emphasizes the practical application of knowledge and project-based assessment. Students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of
filmmaking through courses on screenwriting, the art of the story,
cinematography, film analysis, and working in the field with media
professionals. We encourage our students to take risks and push their creative boundaries to discover deeper and deeper pools of creativity within themselves.
See our Student Showcase.
STATE-OF-THE-ART EQUIPMENT
Students will have access to our state-of-the-art equipment - the cinema standard Red One camera, Blackmagic cinema cameras, Canon DSLRs, editing suites, a wide range of production and creative software, and a filming studio.

AN INDIVIDUALIZED APPROACH
Whereas many other programs are interested in churning out the largest
possible number of students, we're interested in getting each individual
student to where he or she wants to be. Our faculty are adventurous souls and pioneers in their fields. They are
passionate about the media arts, and deeply committed to their work
with students. They will help MA candidates discover what they want to
do, and explore what's the best way that they can get there. Class sizes will be kept low to facilitate individualized teaching and guidance.
UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT
The Block System
will immerse students in one course at a time, enabling them to get to
know each other and form close creative relationships. This shared
knowledge and experience will set the stage for collaboration and
synergy through the course of the program. Students will also benefit
from the university's Consciousness-Based Education.

ADVENTUROUS COLLABORATIONS
There is an exceptionally vibrant creative community in Fairfield, and filmmakers can always find excellent actors, musicians, and fellow filmmakers to work with. The program will help students develop an awareness of today’s media market, and put them in touch with professionals in the creative industries who will connect them to internship and career opportunities outside the University.
Our goal is to give you the equipment, time, and expertise to create outstanding projects and start your career!
