1998-2003 Divisional Sales Vice-President (’01-’03), Regional Sales Manager (’98-’00), Books Are Fun, Ltd., Fairfield, IA. Managed turnaround of declining sales over two consecutive fall seasons (+6% and +15%) for this Readers Digest company. Peak sales $125 million annually. Managed 3 regional VPs and 15 regional managers and their network of 330 independent contractors in US and Canada. As Regional Manager, turned around declining sales in Mid-Atlantic Region to #1 in divisional sales growth (+34%) in first year. Named Manager of the Year, 1999. Departed BAF to return to Vanguard Resource Group full-time.

2000-2001 Vice President of Sales. VIOS, Inc., Cary, NC. During product development phase, built contingent sales commitments for $2.5 annualized sales of advertising space for 3-D web browser interface. Recruited and managed group of four. Caught in post NASDQ crash, our company was not able to secure a prime investor for 2nd round of venture capital funding. Company went out of business.

1995-1998 Western NC Sales Representative, Books Are Fun, Ltd. Blowing Rock, NC. Built $1 million annualized sales revenue within three years. Only rep in top 30 reps nationally that was not located in major metro area. Sold business after BAF offered Regional Sales Manager position.

1988-1995 President and Founder of Vanguard Resource Group, Inc., Fairfield, IA. Same as above description. During ’91-’95, completed Ph.D. program while supporting family.

1982-1988 Assistant Professor of Business Administration, Maharishi International University, Fairfield, IA. Taught full-time M.B.A. and undergraduate courses in Accounting, Economics, Business Strategy, Human Resource Management, etc.

1979-82 Vice President and Account Executive, Taylor Group, Greensboro, NC. Trained and managed several account executives in executive search. Recruited positions up to Divisional President of Fortune 5000 company.
