US Practical Training Jobs Available

Students in the Computer Professionals Program at Maharishi University of Management continue to find practical training jobs in recent months, despite the downturn in the US economy. According to an article recently posted at InfoWorld.com, the job market for IT professionals in the US continues to be strong. The article, entitled “Recession-Proof IT Jobs” by Lisa Schmeiser, explained that IT is a core area that every company needs. Barry Lawrence, a career specialist at the recruiting site JobFox was quoted as saying, “'When you look at what we see — job postings and companies trying to match jobs to candidates — IT is winning the day right now.’”

Recession-proof tech jobs
According to the article, “Lawrence's company recently published a list of recession-proof job positions, and IT positions dominated. Among the seemingly recession-proof areas: software design and development, networking and systems administration, software implementation analysis, testing and QA, and database administration.” These are the types of positions that Computer Professionals Program (Compro) students pursue for practical training. Elsewhere on the site it was reported that there are many unfilled JAVA positions available, more than any other technology. “In some areas of the USA, such as metro Detroit, the amount of open JAVA developers positions is triple the leading language (such as C#),” one reader wrote. Many M.U.M. courses are taught using JAVA, and Compro students are generally quite proficient in it when they complete their on-campus studies.

Compro Students Do Well
“We are confident our students will continue to excel in the job market for a number of reasons,” said Peter Vonderheide, M.U.M. Placement Specialist. “Our students are available for shorter projects and find it easier to relocate than other IT professionals in the US. Many employers check with our Placement Office when new positions become available because of the reputation our students have. And our students are well prepared for the job market because of the cutting-edge content and practical nature of our courses,” he said.
