Computer Architecture Class Preps Students for Jobs
This week Computerworld reported that IT jobs are still plentiful in the U.S. for those with the right skills. Computer Professionals Program students gained some valuable leading-edge technical skills recently in the two-week Computer Architecture seminar taught by Professor Ali Arsanjani, a software architect for IBM.
Students shared their feelings at the end of the seminar. The world view of many of them was changed. Nir Gurung of Nepal wrote:
"I had no idea about the importance of architectural issues. Before this course I underestimated the field of software development. I used to focus only on coding. I realize now that this field is like magic. I can see the complete picture of software development process from the architectural point of view."
Several students commented on how valuable the seminar will be when they look for practical training jobs. "It helps me realize what would be expected from me when I go out and start a job," said Anteneh Maru of Ethiopia.
