Dr. Schmidt-Wilk Reappointed Editor of Journal

Management professor Jane Schmidt-Wilk was recently reappointed to a three-year term as editor of the Journal of Management Education, an award-winning, peer-reviewed journal that is a leading publication for college-level teachers of management.

Dr. Schmidt-Wilk has been editor of the journal since July 2005, and she also serves on the editorial boards of several other academic journals in the field of management.

In her role as editor, Dr. Schmidt-Wilk establishes editorial policy, recruits associate editors and peer reviewers, manages the flow of submissions, builds issues, and writes editorials.

"Jane has developed a national reputation through her work as editor of the Journal of Management Education,” said Dr. Scott Herriott, MUM professor of management. “She is an extraordinary ambassador for Maharishi University of Management within the American business professoriate."

At MUM, Dr. Schmidt-Wilk is the Director of the Center for Management Research dedicated to researching the effects of Maharishi’s technologies on individual and organizational performance. Dr. Schmidt-Wilk has published extensively on the effects of the Transcendental Meditation® technique in education, management, and business.

She was lead editor of a 500-page volume titled “Applications of Maharishi Vedic Science Honoring the Life Work of Charles N. Alexander Ph.D.,” published in 2005 in the Journal of Social Behavior and Personality.

“I love the approach of Consciousness-Based education," Dr. Schmidt-Wilk said. "I love teaching management in light of the managing intelligence of Nature that is present within us all.”

Professor Schmidt-Wilk teaches courses in management and organizational behavior, qualitative research methods, communication skills, teaching, and academic writing. She is also Co-Director of the Ph.D. in Management program. The students of Maharishi University of Management honored her for her teaching excellence with the Teacher Appreciation Award in 2005 and again in 2009.
