Photography
“The art of teaching lies in being able to recognize an individual student’s unique potential and reflect it back in a powerful enough beam to start a blaze.” — Gillian Brown, Photography Professor
Photography expresses a relationship between photographer and subject. Light is the medium. Students learn to use the photographic process as a tool for expressing the finest values of the Self. Along with color and alternative techniques, our primary emphasis is on black-and-white photography. Students develop their creative vision through practice, class critiques, and exposure to the work of other photographers.
Special Features:
- Develop fundamental photographic skills in well-equipped facilities which include group B/W darkroom, photo studio, film processing room, and advanced color darkroom.
- Become proficient in advanced techniques in the field by interacting with computer lab software, by learning digital enhancement and manipulation, by synthesizing photographic images.
“At the college I used to go to students were apathetic, bored, and stressed out. Here students are bright and intelligent, creating a wonderful artistic community. Everyone inspires everyone else.” — Ceyrena Kay, B.F.A. Graduate
