Achievements of Our Graduates
Our graduates have pursued careers as visual artists, photographers, digital animators, Web designers, home builders, videographers, performing artists, art educators, and landscape, fashion and graphic designers:
- Paul Franz-Moore, BA 1981 is an internationally known commercial photographer, now specializing in culinary photography, based in San Fransisco. Paul’s work is often found in such prestigious graphic art magazines as CA and Graphis.
- Abram Siemsen, BFA 1994 has been working as an animator and multimedia designer at the ad agency Technisonics in St. Louis; he got the job immediately following graduation as a result of field work there while a student.
- Arek Reeder, BFA 1995 worked as a production assistant and video editor for the producer of the PBS series Visionaries after graduation. He now works as a designer and manager at Artselect.com in Fairfield.
- Joshua Podoll, BFA 1997 went on to get an MFA from the University of Iowa. He also taught as a visiting instructor at M.U.M. Josh is showing his paintings in top galleries in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Denver. He is currently represented in New York City by Feature Inc. and is the creator of a web-based visual arts collective cspace.org.
- Noah Siemsen, BFA 1999 has been working as senior product designer at Polar Dreams in Fairfield. Polar Dreams is a manufacturer of Christmas-related items. Noah has made numerous trips to their factories in China.
- Ceyrena Kay, BFA 2000 is helping to design a new women's university in Bangladesh as part of her graduate program in landscape Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design.
- Mitra Oliver, BA 2001 worked as a freelance graphic designer and part-time instructor of digital media in California and is currently a designer for Pottery Barn.
- Jennifer Maidment, MFA 2001 was selected as one of only 12 professional artists to exhibit in the Iowa Artists Show at the Des Moines Art Center. She worked for a tile maker (decorative tile) in Ireland and is planning to return to Ireland and resume her work soon.
- Lucia Rich, BFA 2002 while still a student performed in "Bluebeard and Other Less Grizzly Tales of Love" in New York. She has gone on to study Le Coq-based movement technique in London and will perform in Berlin on a mask/mime project.
- Michael Zak, MA 2002 got a job immediately following graduation as an animator and computer game designer at Volition, Inc., in Champaign, Illinois. After working there a year, he took a job as computer game designer at Bungie Software, a subsidiary of Microsoft, in Seattle.
- Mei Sze Viau, MA 2002 has been working as a Web designer at Artselect.com in Fairfield since graduation.
- Jim Greiner, MA 2003 Since graduation, Jim Greiner has been working in Fairfield as the Art Director of PocketPC Magazine and as their web designer. PocketPC magazine has national newsstand distribution.
