Board of Trustees
Bevan Morris is Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, President of Maharishi University of Management, and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees. He received the degrees of B.A. and M.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University (England), and M.S.C.I. and D.S.C.I. from Maharishi European Research University. He is President of Maharishi Vedic Educational Development Corporation, U.S.A.; President of the Global Country of World Peace, U.S.A.; and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. He is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
John Hagelin is Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Professor of Physics, Maharishi University of Management. A leading scientist and public policy expert, he is chief advisor to the Congressional Prevention Coalition and Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy. He directs the implementation of the Transcendental Meditation program nationwide, and is Director of the Board of Advisors of the David Lynch Foundation. He holds the titles of President of the US Peace Government and Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace. He received the degrees of A.B. (summa cum laude) from Dartmouth College, A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University, and Doctorate of World Peace from Maharishi University of World Peace. A world-renowned quantum physicist, Dr. Hagelin has conducted pioneering research at CERN and SLAC, and his publications include some of the most cited references in the physical sciences. He is Chairman of the Marketing and Public Relations Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Jeffrey Abramson is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Maharishi University of Management. He is a Partner of The Tower Companies, a three-generation commercial real estate firm in the nation’s capital and its largest developer of green or sustainable properties. Tower is the recipient of numerous national and international environmental awards, winner of Business of the Year from the Washington, DC Chamber of Commerce, and certified by the EPA as a carbon-neutral company. He has organized and funded medical research in the areas of cardiovascular diseases and preventative health care, and educational programs for at-risk youth utilizing the Transcendental Meditation program.
Vincent Argiro is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Maharishi University of Management. He is Founder, former Chief Technology Officer, and former member of the Board of Directors, and now consultant to, Vital Images, Inc., a leading medical imaging software company. He was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Minnesota and the Dakotas in the Life Sciences business category, is a member of TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) and has been a speaker at TEDGlobal. He earned a B.A. in Biology from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Neural Sciences from Washington University, St. Louis. He was Professor of Cell Biology and Neuroscience and Associate Chair of the Department of Physiology at Maharishi University of Management.
Ramani Ayer is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Hartford, one of the nation’s largest financial services and insurance companies. He earned master’s and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from Drexel University and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology. He formerly served on the board of directors of the American Insurance Association and currently is a member of the board of directors of Hartford Hospital.
Rogers Badgett is a Member of the City Council of Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa. He received the MBA degree from Rollins College. As an entrepreneur, he was involved with his family's acquisition of the Boston Red Sox, enlarging the Port of Dubai UAE Harbor, operating large coal mining operations as President of Venture Coal Corporation, managing oil explorations, and managing large investment portfolios. As a Professor at Maharishi University of Management, he taught classes in Investment and Finance. As a developer, he built and founded the award-winning Raj Ayurveda Health Spa. He is co-Chair of the Expansion Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Marsh Belden is Trust Manager at McBel Trust, Canton, Ohio, and a major financial supporter of the University. As the grandnephew of former First Lady Ida Saxton McKinley, he restored the McKinley home in Canton, Ohio. The building now houses the First Ladies Library, the only facility dedicated to the life and work of presidential spouses.
Robert G. Brown was Group President at Harte-Hanks, a Fortune 500 database and marketing company. Harte-Hanks purchased the Market Intelligence division of Ziff Davis, Inc., where he was President. At Ziff Davis Inc, he served as Division President during the high growth era of PC technology and publishing. He is an engineering graduate of Lehigh University and obtained a MBA from Harvard Business School. He is Lead Director on the Board of Onvia, Inc., and serves on the boards of the David Lynch Foundation and the Pittsburgh Opera. He is Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Larry Chroman is Global Minister of Trade and Commerce for the Global Country of World Peace. He has served as Vice President of Surya Financial, International President of USA Global Link, and Director of Marketing for Westcliff Capital Management.
Bruce Currivan is Technical Director of Broadband Communications at Broadcom Corporation in Irvine, California. He has over 30 years experience in technology development, including work on the first commercial Global Positioning System receiver, is the author of many technical papers and book chapters, and holds over 50 patents, issued and pending. He served as Chairman of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 802.14 Physical Layer Subgroup and contributed to international cable modem standards. He received the B.S. degree from Cornell University and the M.S.E. degree from Princeton University. He is Chairman of the Business Development/Technology Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Bob Daniels is a founding member of the Maharishi University of Management administrative staff and a former trustee of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. He is Owner and Manager of Farris Properties, LLC, and a nationally recognized advisor to thousands of home service professionals. He holds a B.S. in Finance from California State Polytechnic University.
Michael Dillbeck is International Administrator (Raja) of the Global Country of World Peace with responsibility for France and seven other countries. He is International Research Professor and formerly International Vice President at Maharishi University of Management. He is a widely published researcher on the physiological, cognitive, and sociological effects of the Transcendental Meditation technique. A former Presidential Scholar, he received the degrees of B.A. (summa cum laude) from Benedictine College, M.S. and Ph.D. from Purdue University, and a doctoral degree from Maharishi University of World Peace. He is co-Chair of the Academic Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Susan Dillbeck is President of the International Foundation of Consciousness-Based Education. She is International Professor of Education and former Graduate Dean at Maharishi University of Management, and former President and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Maharishi Spiritual University and Ideal Girls School, educational institutions for ladies and girls. She received the degrees of B.A. from the University of Illinois; M.A. and Ph.D. in Education from the University of California, Berkeley; and a doctoral degree from Maharishi University of World Peace. She is co-Chair of the Academic Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Michael Dimick received the degrees of B.S.C.I. from Maharishi European Research University and M.B.A. from Maharishi International University (now Maharishi University of Management). He is a businessman in Boise, Idaho. He is Chairman of the Sustainability Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Barbara B. Dreier holds the degrees of A.B. in Biology from Radcliffe and Harvard Colleges, M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Yale University School of Art, and Ph.D. in Supreme Political Science from Maharishi University of World Peace. She was an active partner in designing and building two Maharishi Sthapatya Ved condominium buildings on the MUM campus, and has managed and thoughtfully developed Adirondack real estate. As an administrator (Raj Rajeshwari) of the Global Country of World Peace, she has responsibility for implementing consciousness-based programs for women around the world, primarily in education, health and culture.
Josephine Bain Fauerso received the degrees of B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.A. in Education from Maharishi University of Management. She is a founding Trustee of Maharishi University of Management and was a founding Director of the Maharishi School for the Age of Enlightenment. An active teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Program, she has taught seminars to teachers on Consciousness-Based education. She serves as Vice President of Amber Waves Music and as a Partner in Blanco Ventures. She writes on education and travel, and is active in historic preservation through her family’s museum and historic home in Texas.
Paul Gelderloos received the degree of Doctorandus in Clinical Psychology from Vrije Universiteit (Netherlands) and Doctorate in Social Sciences from Katholieke Universiteit. He worked as an army clinical psychologist and as a research psychologist at Maharishi European Research University. He served as Assistant Professor of Psychology at MUM, conducting clinical studies and publishing widely in academic journals. He taught and established universities in Norway, Thailand and Russia. He taught almost 5,000 people Transcendental Meditation. He is Founder and past CEO of Scarlet Telecom, which serves 400,000 customers in Holland and Belgium and employs 700 people. He is currently CEO of Sahara NV, which develops emerging broadband markets. He serves as Board Member of Maharishi Global Finance Research, Chairman of the Students International Meditation Society of Amsterdam, and Supervisory Director of Stichting Woningbouwvereniging Harmonisch Leven and the Development Corporation for Fortunate Living. He also serves as national director for the Transcendental Meditation program in the Netherlands and has purchased and developed several consciousness-based high schools.
Fred Gratzon is an entrepreneur and founder of the Great Midwestern Ice Cream Company, whose product was judged by People Magazine to be the best in America. He founded Telegroup, an international long distance carrier which grew to 1100 employees and over $300 million in annual sales. His companies repeatedly appeared on Inc. Magazine's list of the fastest growing companies in America. He received the degrees of B.A. in Fine Arts from Rutgers University; and M.S.C.I. and Doctorate of Maharishi Master Management from Maharishi European Research University. A published author and teacher of Transcendental Meditation, he serves as Chairman of the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Christopher William Hartnett was founder and chairman of USA Global Link and related companies. A pioneer in voice-over-Internet-protocol technology, he was a founding member of the International Resale Council of the Telecommunications Resellers Association, a delegate to the International Telecommunication Union, is a member of the Department of State International Telecommunication Advisory Committee, and received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He is chairman of Tedhens, Ltd., and a board member and Executive Director of Reinvent, Inc., holders of some of the world’s largest portfolios of Internet domain names. A former member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, a certified gemologist with the Gemological Institute of America, and a founding member of the American Gem Trade Association and the International Colored Gemstone Association, he is founder of several gem trading companies. He has founded numerous manufacturing and development companies, is managing director of an art gallery, and is a real estate developer and author. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Business Administration, and an honorary Doctorate of World Peace and Vedic Science, from Maharishi University of Management; a Ph.D. in Business Management from Maharishi European Research University; and is a graduate of Harvard Business School. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Maharishi Global Development Fund and serves as founding Chairman of the Global Central Bank of The Global Country of World Peace.
Bruce Hauptman received the BSCI degree from Maharishi European Research University. He is Founder and CEO of B. Hauptman & Associates, LLC (BHA), an investment consulting firm that specializes in non-traditional investment strategies, and Founder of Genesis Capital Fund, LP, one of the first Funds of Hedge Funds. BHA has served as investment management consultant to Soros Fund Management and Stanford University's Hoover Institute, and is Principal General Partner of Gaia Capital Fund, L.P. He is currently Executive Director of Matrixview, Ltd., a technology company developing lossless compression for text, images, audio and video.
Vernon Katz, Adjunct Professor of Science of Creative Intelligence and Philosophy, Maharishi University of Management, received the degrees of B.A. and Ph.D. from Oxford University (England), and Doctorate of World Peace from Maharishi University of World Peace. He is currently a writer in London.
Joni Steele Kimberlin is a founding Director of the David Lynch Foundation and serves as National Director of the TM Program for Women and Girls. She has worked in magazine and newspaper publishing as writer, editor, and sales manager. More recently, she co-produced and wrote the script for the award-winning PBS documentary Elizabeth Winthrop: All the Days of Her Life. Her feature-length documentary, Get Real! Wise Women Speak, is currently in post production. She was awarded the YWCA Spirit of Greenwich (Connecticut) Award in 2007, in recognition of philanthropic work including Audubon, The Boys and Girls Club, Greenwich Hospital and The Bruce Museum. She has served on the Greenwich Conservation Commission. She and her husband, Kevin Kimberlin, a venture capitalist, support Yaddo, a prominent artists' colony. She is Chairman of the Endowment Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Carolyn Gaylord King is a researcher on the Transcendental Meditation technique and Professor in the Department of Physiology and Health at Maharishi University of Management. She conducted the first federally funded research projects involving the TM technique and is actively involved in research on the effects of TM on health. She received the B.A. degree from Southern Arkansas University and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is currently conducting research on the effects of TM on diabetes in American Indians. She is co-Chair of the Health and Happiness Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Toby Lieb received the degree of B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. She was Founding PTA President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Washington, DC. She is co-Chair of the Health and Happiness Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Arthur “Bud” Liebler, president of Liebler Group, was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Chrysler Corporation. He is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America and was named automotive “All Star” by Automotive News, Advertising Age, and PR Week. He was national chairman of the American Advertising Federation and president of both the Adcraft Club of Detroit and the Michigan Advertising Industry Alliance. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theatre, The Parade Company, the David Lynch Foundation, Cranbrook Academy of Art and Museum, The Purple Rose Theater, and the Detroit Festival of the Arts. He previously served on the Boards of The Ad Council, Detroit 300 Commission, Oakland University College of Arts and Humanities, and Artrain USA.
David Lynch holds the Doctor Honorarius degree from The Royal College of Art, England. He is a three-time Academy Award nominated film director, painter, photographer and musician. He is Founder and Chair of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace, and author of Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity.
Edward Malloy is Mayor of Fairfield, Iowa and President of Danaher Oil Company. He has served for 16 years in local government with the last 8 years as mayor. In 2009 he was recognized as one of the 15 Greenest Mayors in America by msn.com for his work in creating a comprehensive plan to make Fairfield a model sustainable city. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Ricker College in 1974. He is on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa and on the advisory board of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
Ted McLaughlin received the B.A. degree in accounting from the University of Dayton and passed the California Public Accountant Exam. He has worked in positions of financial management for more than 20 years and is currently a trader and private investor. He was Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Books Are Fun, Ltd., a leading display marketer of premium books and gifts in North America. Prior to that he was Chief Financial Officer of United Fuels International, Inc. and its affiliated United Companies, and a Controller at Informix Software, Inc. He and his wife Barbara donated the Computer Science Building on the Maharishi University Of Management campus.
Leonard A. Oppenheim received the degrees of B.A. from Columbia College and J.D. from New York University Law School. He practiced law in Westchester County, New York, as a partner in the law firm of Geiger and Oppenheim, and was a principal in the investment banking firm of Montgomery Securities in San Francisco. He is currently a private investor in Cave Creek, Arizona and Fairfield, Iowa.
Ravi Patel, MD is a board certified clinical oncologist. He is Founder and Managing Partner of Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC), the largest such freestanding facility on the West Coast and the first built according to the principles of Maharishi Sthapathya Ved. He serves as Principal Investigator in clinical research studies in cooperation with the UCLA School of Medicine, where he is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine. His papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Lymphoma. His pioneering approach to patient care incorporates the emotional and spiritual aspects of health and its effect on family and friends.
Steve Rubin received the B.A. degree from Brown University in 1975. He is the Founder and past Chairman and CEO of United Fuels International, Inc. and affiliated companies, one of the energy industry’s leading brokerage firms prior to its being acquired by ICAP, plc in 2005. He serves on the boards of several foundations affiliated with Maharishi University of Management, and as the international administrator (Raja) for the Global Country of World Peace with responsibility for the People’s Republic of China. He has been a major financial supporter of the University since 1982. He resides in Vero Beach, FL.
Eric Schwartz is founder and CEO of Cambridge Investment Research, one of the fastest-growing Broker Dealers in the country and three-time recipient of Investment Advisor Magazine's “Broker Dealer of the Year” award. Numerous major industry publications have featured Eric in their cover stories. Cambridge employs over 300 people in Fairfield and an additional 20 nationwide, and is affiliated with over 1600 investment advisors across the country. A member of the founding Board of Directors and current Chairman of the Financial Services Institute, Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Amherst College and a master’s in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts.
Petra Stanley has modeled for boutiques and runway shows including Saks 5th Avenue and Jacobson’s, telecommercials, and charity fashion shows for designers including Michael Kors and Pamela Dennis. Her house received the 1st Prize Leadership Award from the Governor of Iowa. She has been featured on Iowa Public Television and many times nationwide on Home and Garden TV. A painter and private investor, she lives in Fairfield, IA and Germany, where she studied business. She is co-Chair of the Expansion Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Tom Stanley was granted a Doctorate in Supreme Political Science from Maharishi University of World Peace. He served in various positions in the Natural Law Party of the United States, and was elected at-large to city government in Fairfield, Iowa. He currently serves as an administrator (Raja) of the Global Country of World Peace with responsibility for Ireland and seven other countries.
Keith Wallace, founding President of Maharishi International University (now Maharishi University of Management), received the degrees of B.S. in Physics and Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and did postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School. He was awarded the Doctorate of World Peace degree from Maharishi University of World Peace. He serves as Chair of the Department of Physiology and Health, Professor of Physiology and International Director of Research at Maharishi University of Management. A pioneer in the neurophysiology of higher states of consciousness, his work has been published in many journals including Scientific American and The American Journal of Physiology. His groundbreaking research on the physiology of meditation opened the door for its scientific study and application in the field of behavioral medicine. He is the author of The Neurophysiology of Enlightenment and The Physiology of Consciousness, and has lectured in over 50 countries. He serves as co-Chair of the Health and Happiness Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Robert G. Wynne is Mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, and President of Maharishi World Peace Vedic Organics. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Country of World Peace; administrator (Raja) for New Zealand and 8 other countries; and Director of the Invincible America campus in Maharishi Vedic City with responsibility for over 1000 Vedic Pandits from India. He has led the development of Maharishi Vedic City from a population of 125 to 1400 in eight years. Earlier he served as Chair of the Academic Council, Dean of the School of Management, and Vice President of Expansion at Maharishi University of Management. He holds the degrees of B.A. from Stanford University; S.M. from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration from Maharishi European Research University; and honorary Doctor of Laws in Public Administration from Maharishi University of Management.
