The Capstone Writing Project is a significant component of the assessment plan. The rubric for the writing project is as follows:

  • Paper opens with statement of wholeness— the thesis or main point
  • Conclusion refers back to the thesis with greater sense of wholeness and fulfillment

  • Main ideas are clear, accurate, and logically connected to the wholeness
  • Paragraphs have a specific topic and supporting ideas
  • Ideas unfold sequentially
  • Key MVS terms are defined and this vocabulary builds systematically

  • Relevant, reliable evidence is used properly
  • Abstract ideas are supported by concrete examples—from nature, science, experience, or by metaphors, analogies, etc.
