Sustainable Living Department Presents "Career Incentives"
The Sustainable Living Department is happy to announce a new lecture series, "Career Incentives".  The content will include internship opportunities as well as presentations from Sustainable Living alumni, successful entrepreneurs, professionals who work in the field of career development and job coaching, and more as the series progresses.  Are there specific people or opportunities that you'd like to hear about?  Your suggestions are welcome and appreciated, please contact Diana Krystofiak at dianakrystofiak@gmail.com For our first lecture the Sustainable Living Department is pleased to welcome MUM SL alumni (2007)  Austin Durr, who entered the Peace Corps post graduation.  Austin will explain how his time as a Sustainable Living student prepared him for the Peace Corps, what his work in the Peace Corps involved, and share pictures and music from his journey as a volunteer.  Austin will be joined by SL student Robert Abreu, who has been accepted to the Peace Corps program and will begin his volunteer period in July 2013.  Robert's portion of the talk will cover the Peace Corps application process from sending the application, to the interview, and through the legal, medical, and suitability clearances necessary for acceptance.

Sustainable Living Majors, an approved internship is one of your graduation requirements.  If you plan to do an internship in the next six months it is important to start the process now.  Diana Krystofiak, the Sustainable Living Career Services Director, will be happy to meet with you and discuss your options.  Please come to room 23 to reserve an appointment on her calendar, or call her cell phone, (641) 919 - 3645.

To name only a few of the internship opportunities available to Sustainable Living majors: the Rodale Insitute in Pennsylvania, Wildbear Nature Education center in Boulder, Colorado, Eco Nest Homes in Canada, Northwoods Stewardship Center in Vermont, Common Grounds Permaculture Center in Kawaii, Hawaii, and Gramen Farm in Houston, Texas.  We work with our students to find the perfect internship - the sky is the limit!
