Academic Budgeting

Streamline academic budgeting with a LEAN process (year 1; Dean of Faculty, Chris Jones, Michael Spivak, Amellia Hesse; cost of LEAN process)

By June 2014, the Academic Planning Council, along with the Accounting Department, will implement a LEAN process to develop a system for planning and monitoring yearly budgets for academic departments. This system will be in place by January 2015.

Metrics to measure success: creation and implementation of a plan

 

Departmental Reporting

Streamline departmental reporting with a LEAN process (year 1; Dean of Faculty, Jessica Brower; cost of LEAN process)

By June 2014, the Dean of Faculty along with academic departmental administrators will implement a LEAN process to determine a standard format for all reports and coordinate the writing of different University reports so that all reports will be based on the same data. This system will be in place by January 2015.

Events Scheduling

Streamline events scheduling with a LEAN process (year 1; Dean of Faculty; cost of LEAN process)

The individuals and departments involved in scheduling rooms for extra-curricular events will conduct a LEAN process by September 2014 to develop a speaker approval process, scheduling process, University calendar, and publicity approval process for all extra-curricular events. This system will be in place by June 2015.

TA Processing

Streamline Teaching Assistant (TA) processing with a LEAN process (year 1; Dean of Faculty, Amellia Hesse, Stan LaMothe; cost of LEAN process)

The Dean of Faculty will conduct a LEAN process to streamline the entire TA processing, including position approval, applicant processing, applicant approval, compensation approval, and timesheet submission. This system will be in place by April 2014.

Faculty Superradiance

Improve Faculty Dome Attendance (years 1–5; Dean of Faculty)

A committee of faculty members will develop ways to inspire faculty for higher dome attendance, find ways to help faculty improve their attendance, and monitor attendance.

Online Manual of University Procedures 

Develop an Online Manual of University Procedures  (year 1; Amellia Hesse)

Amellia Hesse and a group of departmental administrators will create an online Manual of University Procedures for use by faculty and staff by August 2014.
