When does the pre-integrative medicine program start?

Students can choose either the fall semester entry (starting in August) or the spring semester entry (starting in January).

What degree will I receive upon completion?

BA in Physiology and Health.

What accreditation does the University have?

Maharishi University of Management is accredited by Higher Learning Commission (312-263-0456) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

What is AyurVeda?

AyurVeda is a complete science of health that has its origins in the Vedic tradition of India thousands of years ago. Maharishi AyurVeda incorporates a wide range of procedures for the prevention and treatment of disease, and deals holistically with consciousness, physiology, psychology, behavior, and environment.

What do medical schools think about AyurVeda as part of a pre-integrative medicine program?

Medical schools are increasingly recognizing the value of evidence-based natural health procedures, and many now offer courses on integrative medicine. Most medical schools will view the addition of AyurVeda to a traditional pre-integrative medicine program as a positive feature.

Which medical schools will this pre-integrative medicine program prepare me for?

The program is designed to fulfill the educational requirements of almost all U.S. medical colleges and naturopathic schools. As with any other pre-med program, acceptance by any given medical school will depend upon the performance and qualifications of the applicant.

What is the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)?

The MCAT is a computer-based standardized, multiple-choice examination that assesses problem solving, critical thinking, writing skills, and knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. Medical schools consider MCAT scores as part of their admission process.

When do I take the MCAT?

After you have completed the pre-integrative medicine program and are applying for medical school.

How does “active and collaborative learning” affect the learning process?

Students learn more when they are actively involved in their education and asked to think about what they are learning in different settings, including collaborating with other students. Our classes feature an abundance of student discussion and small group projects.

Is Maharishi University planning a medical school with an M.D. program?

Yes. The approval and commencement of the program is not yet determined, but the process will take several years under ideal conditions and is dependent on requisite funding being secured.
