Applying for a Staff Position at MUM
Maharishi University of Management (MUM) was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to fulfill the highest ideals of education. Foremost among these ideals is to help students develop the ability to think and act in harmony with their environment and to live a fulfilled life. The University has pioneered a unique system of higher education based on developing students' full alertness and creative intelligence, the foundation of learning.

This Consciousness-Based Education system integrates the traditional discipline-based education with knowledge and technologies for developing students' mental potential. At the foundation of this system is the regular twice daily practice by students, faculty, staff and administrators of the Transcendental MeditationTM technique as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

The Transcendental Meditation Program℠ is a simple, effortless technique that is learned through individual instruction from a qualified teacher. It is not a religion, and its effectiveness in bringing about positive changes in many areas -- physical, psychological, and social -- has been verified by over 600 scientific research studies at many leading universities and research centers throughout the world. New staff members who do not yet practice the Transcendental Meditation technique are encouraged to learn and are offered a generous scholarship if they choose to be instructed in the technique.

Maharishi University of Management offers a supportive, friendly atmosphere in which faculty, students, staff and administrators can pursue their academic and personal goals. Carefully designed routines are followed that promote rapid growth in every area of life including the twice-daily group practice of the Transcendental Meditation program.

Campus dining halls serve a rich and wholesome vegetarian-and-dairy menu three meals each day. In addition to delicious entrees and fresh vegetables and fruits, an organic salad bar, homemade breads and desserts, ice cream, milk, juices, sandwich counter, and hot soups complement the menu.

MUM is located in Fairfield, a small city in southeast Iowa. Despite the rural setting, Fairfield is a vibrant community, and offers many of the advantages of big city life without the noise, traffic, and pollution. Fairfield contains 40 restaurants, from fast food to fine food, including a wide variety of international cuisine. The Steven Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts in the heart of the city has weekly performances on stage, including concerts, dance, plays, and comedy (see www.fairfieldacc.com). A monthly street-festival called the Fairfield Art Walk is known throughout the region and draws large crowds to the town square.

For more information about Fairfield please visit the Chamber of Commerce website. This site has useful information including a map of Fairfield. The Fairfield library also has useful links.

The salary/benefits package for each staff member is negotiated individually based on background and experience. The University offers two main compensation packages for full time employees, either Salaried or Ideal Administrator (IA). Salaried employees generally start around $1200/month, live off campus, and receive lunches, discounts at the University Store and Market, a Recreation Center pass, and 3 weeks paid vacation. More details can be found in our Employee Handbook.

Ideal Administrators live on campus and receive additional benefits of full room and board, tuition credit for themselves and immediate family members, health insurance, many other miscellaneous benefits and a stipend starting at $500/month. Click here for a more complete listing of Ideal Administrator benefits. Full time staff members generally work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
