Getting books quickly
Faculty purchasers
For optimum service, please follow these guidelines when ordering:
Please do contact the other people in your department and get their input, but tell them to give their lists to you rather than contacting us directly, so that you can estimate within budget.
Please duplicate check your books/DVDs to make sure that we don't already have the item. (http://www.mum.edu/library/catalog)
For fastest service:
copy to us a link or links on Amazon to the exact edition(s) that you want,
or start a wish list on Amazon and invite us to view it
or print a page or pages of desired items, circle the item, and send the print pages to us (Note: links or wish lists get priority service).
Try to get the item through Amazon, which gives us free shipping, and Amazon keeps an account of our purchases and makes it easy to track an order. (Note: Amazon requests also get priority treatment.)
Most convenient: e-mail. Please send the e-mail from the Faculty Library Liaison's e-mail address, since the e-mail address constitutes the authorizing signature of the Liaison. You can also use campus mail, or bring in your print order and give it to Ron Craig in Acquisitions (x1121). If you send/bring in a print order, be sure to sign it to show that you approve the order.
If an order is not clear, we will have to send it back to you. Please double check to be sure you have clear information. And to avoid the expense of sending a wrong order back, please make sure that you are asking for the right item.
Keep a list of your orders so that you can know what you asked for and can check on the status.
Please send in your book requests in early. If it is a rush at the end, things might get overlooked.

More on duplicate checking
When you have the necessary information, please make sure that we don't already have the title. For this, please go to http://mum.edu/library, and select Catalog from the left side menu.
Please search by Title and/or Author, as searches by ISBN may not always be accurate. Once you have verified that the Library doesn't have the book, submit the book order request including all necessary information.
Approving the items once received
When the books arrive, if you have submitted your requests before March 15, you'll be notified to come to review the books. After March 30, they will automatically be added to the collection.
Once you review and approve the books, they are processed and made available to Library patrons.
If you are satisfied to know that we look for damaged books and return them, and feel confident about your order, then let us know and we will turn the books over to cataloging--you won't have to come in to review books.
